'this is the kind of night when homeless people die'

today
(with apologies to all of the homeless people i have known)
and
(unshowered for two days after being sick in bed)
i went to work smelling like a homeless person
because it wasn't safe
to stay at home...

reminded
i have never had the luxury
of not knowing
that it's never more than a (mis)step away
